The
Rebel
In "The Rebel,"
the author cites many examples of how he has rebelled against
the system while staying within the framework of the law. He
tells how he forced the Association of Engineering Geologists
to change its Code of Ethics. When a new runway was completed
at the Los Angeles International airport, he forced the FAA to
close the runway until they realigned the final approach zone
away from his home. And when the city of
Rosemead
stopped picking up residents' garbage for nonpayment of
rubbish fees, he forced the city to change its policy so no
garbage was left uncollected.
"Rebel against the system before it overwhelms you,"
Bezaire says. "But always stay within the framework of
the law.”
Using this advice, Bezaire was able to convince his
fourteen-year old grandson to successfully rebel against a
store owner. The teenager planned to throw a brick through the
owner's store window because the store would not honor a
money-back guarantee, but Bezaire explained it would be faster
to stay within the framework of the law and simply picket the
store. Following this suggestion, the store owner gave his
money back in less than five minutes.
The book also details Bezaire's most recent act of rebellion
-- offering a $10,000 reward to the first person who can prove
he had a trial de novo as stated by the judge in Case #
SM04C01472, Superior Court of Los Angeles County, and affirmed
by the California Supreme Court. A full certified transcript
of the case is included in the book
Always stay within the framework of the law!
